McCord Road Underpass Project
Project awarded to Beaver Excavating Company for $23.4 million.
BOWLING GREEN (Thursday, June 12, 2014) –The Ohio Department of Transportation District Two today announces the award of the McCord Road Underpass project.
The contract was awarded to Beaver Excavating Company of Canton, Ohio. They will construct an underpass beneath the Norfolk Southern railroad and build a roundabout at the intersection of McCord Road and North Mall Drive/Hall Street.
Construction will begin in July or August and is scheduled for completion in November of 2016.
According to ODOT District Two Deputy Director, Todd Audet, “We’ve reached a milestone. The staff of ODOT, the Lucas County Engineer’s office, TMACOG and local agencies have dedicated so much effort and hard work to keep this project moving forward.”
“The Lucas County Engineer's Office is very pleased to have finally reached the construction stage of the McCord Road Grade Separation project and we are grateful to the ODOT personnel that have helped to make this possible,” says Lucas County Chief Deputy Engineer Jeff Lose.
The project was part of ODOT’s Railroad grade separation program, and is intended to reduce congestion caused by train traffic and improve safety.
