State Route 51 Sidewalk Closure in Elmore
BOWLING GREEN (Friday, August 07, 2015) - The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is proposing a project to place concrete barrier on the sidewalk of the State Route 51 bridge over the Portage River in Elmore to supplement the deteriorating bridge railing. Placing the barrier would close the sidewalk on the bridge, however, the North Coast Inland Trail (NCIT) pedestrian bridge to the south will be posted as the pedestrian detour. The sidewalk closure is expected to start in spring 2016 and last until the Elmore Bridge is rehabilitated which is expected to occur in 2020. During the sidewalk closure, detour signs to the NCIT will be posted.
ODOT is seeking comments regarding environmental or social issues related to the closure of the sidewalk across the SR 51 Elmore Bridge. To share your comments, contact Stacy Schimmoeller, the environmental coordinator, or visit: http://www.dot.state.oh.us/feedback/Pages/feedback.aspx
The project also proposes to pave SR 51 through the Village of Elmore south to the Sandusky County line, on SR 105 through the Village of Pemberville, and on SR 199 through the Village of West Millgrove. The proposed paving will take approximately 120 days, which is scheduled to start in spring 2016. During this period, a minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times for paving work. All work is weather dependent.
