State Route 25 Major Reconstruction
From US 6 to Cygnet Road
BOWLING GREEN (Wednesday, July 24) - State Route 25 south of Bowling Green is coming to the end of its life-cycle and needs replaced.
ODOT looked at a traffic analysis of the corridor, traffic volume counts, projected traffic volume counts for 20 years, crash history, capacity analysis of the current and proposed conditions, and cost of rehabilitation. Based on this, ODOT originally proposed a lane reduction from the south side of Portage to Cygnet Rd., from four lanes to two lanes, with the addition of left turn lanes at intersections.
"Safety is important to ODOT. While there are merits to reduce SR 25 to two lanes, there are some safety concerns associated with reducing this route that has historically been four lanes down to two lanes," said Patrick McColley, ODOT District 2 Deputy Director. "After further evaluation, the cost savings were not as great as originally anticipated, because of all these factors our engineers believe that at this time the best decision is to maintain all four lanes."
Since there will not be a significant change to the layout of SR 25, there will be no public meeting on this project.
