Wheeling Street and Interstate Ramps Scheduled to Open Wednesday

BOWLING GREEN (Tuesday, November 22, 2011)The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District Two announces the opening of Wheeling Street and major interstate ramps in Lucas County. Weather permitting, lane and ramp restrictions are scheduled to be lifted on Wednesday, November 23.

The opening of Wheeling Street completes major work on the $9.4 million widening project, including the widening of the Wheeling Street bridge over Interstate 280.  Construction began in June 2010.

The widening of Wheeling Street from Navarre Avenue to Pickle Road, including the Wheeling Street bridge over I-280 will create easier access to the Wheeling Street corridor.

According to ODOT District Two Deputy Director Todd Audet, “congestion in this area will be greatly reduced, resulting in a more fluid movement of goods and services in the City of Oregon.”

Work will resume on the project next spring with possible overnight lane restrictions on I-280 at Wheeling Street for finish work.
