ODOT District Two Winter Weather Update
BOWLING GREEN (Wednesday, January 28, 2015) – Crews at the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District Two are prepared for upcoming winter weather, including possible freezing rain that could fall over the area overnight tonight.
After midnight, crews will patrol state and federal routes across the area for the possibility of freezing rain. Although forecasting of freezing rain events are challenging, over 100 plows will be ready to treat state and federal routes should freezing rain cause issues on roadways.
Pretreating for this event was not necessary due to the amount of salt on the roadways from previous winter events.
Winter conditions could possibly impact your Thursday morning commute.
If freezing rain causes slick roadways, ODOT advises the following:
· Pay attention to the weather, check the forecast and OHGO.com for road conditions before you leave home
· Roads may appear wet, but could be icy.
· Go easy on your brakes
· Allow extra time to get to your destination
· Take it slow!
