Lorain (Thursday, January 26, 2012) – Beginning Monday, February 6th through Thursday, February 9th, the US 6/Charles Berry Bascule Bridge will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. In addition, there will be two daytime closures of the bridge between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, February 13th and Tuesday, February 14th. Closures dates may be rescheduled, as this work is weather dependent.
The detours for the closures are as follows:
· The primary detour route and the truck detour route is SR 611 (Colorado Ave.) east to SR 301 (Abbe Rd.) north to US 6 (reverse for westbound motorists).
· The alternative detour route is SR 57 (Broadway) south to SR 611 (Colorado Ave.) east to SR 301 (Abbe Rd.) north to US 6 (reverse for westbound motorists).
This work is being performed to rebalance the leaves of the bascule bridge and to realign the span lock in the center of the bridge. Work on the project began on January 9th.
