Upcoming State Route 97 meeting scheduled

Safety project proposed for Bellville area

Mansfield (Wednesday, February 12, 2014) – The District Three office of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has scheduled a public meeting, open to residents, local officials and interested persons, for the purpose of providing information about a proposed to improve SR 97 between Kocheiser Road and Alexander Road. Construction of this improvement is expected begin in the Spring of 2016.
The results of a 2010 safety study submitted to ODOT on behalf of the Village of Bellville found this section of roadway is experiencing a crash rate above the state average and is considered a “high crash segment.” The purpose of this project is to improve safety and relieve congestion along SR 97 in the Village of Bellville by widening and resurfacing SR 97, and adding a left turn lane for the interchange ramps at I-71 and the commercially developed area between Kocheiser Road (TR 325) and Alexander Road (TR 340).
