ODOT District 3 Weekly Construction Report
For the Week of August 13

ASHLAND COUNTY
US Route 42 ***NEW***
US 42, at the intersection of King Rd., will have traffic maintained with flaggers as needed, as crews begin underground work on signals. The project is expected to be complete August 2018.

Interstate 71 ***UPDATE***

I-71, from US 250 to the Wayne County line, will have intermittent single lane closures during the day and double lane closures at night for a resurfacing project. Crews will be paving the southbound lanes and both the north and southbound entrance and exit ramps at US 250. Traffic will be maintained on the ramps with narrowed lanes. Nightly resurfacing repairs will take place from 8pm-7am. Motorists are advised to drive with caution through the area as trucks enter and exit the work zone. The project will utilize digital speed limit signs to maintain traffic flow. The posted speed limit when crews are NOT working will be 65 mph; the reduced speed limit when workers are present will be 55mph. The project is expected to be complete August 2018.

State Route 89

SR 89, just south of CR 2000, is now closed for a culvert replacement. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 89 to US 30, west on US 30 to SR 60, south on SR 60 to SR 179, southeast on SR 179 to SR 95, northeast on SR 95 to SR 89, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen Wednesday, August 15, 2018.


State Route 95
SR 95, from just east of Green TR 2704 moving east consecutively to just west of Ashland CR 37, is closed for multiple culvert replacements. Crews will consecutively move west to east along SR 95 to complete all seven culverts; four of the seven culverts have been completed. The location and time frame for each culvert is as follows: A.) August 6-August 10: between TR 2402 and TR 457, B.) August 13-August 17: just west of SR 89, C.) August 20-August 24: just west of CR 37. The detour route is the same for all seven culverts. Motorists heading northeast should travel SR 95 to SR 39, southeast on SR 39 to SR 3, northeast on SR 3 to SR 95, and reverse for southwest motorists. The road is expected to reopen Friday, August 24, 2018.

 

US Route 250 ***NEW***
US 250, at its intersection with Sugarbush Dr. and George Rd., will have traffic maintained with flaggers as needed, as crews begin underground work on signals. The project is expected to be complete August 2018.

 

County Road 1302
CR 1302, at the structure over I-71, is closed for bridge repairs. The detour route for westbound motorists is CR 1302 to SR 89, north on SR 89 to US 42, southwest on US 42 to CR 1302, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen Sunday, August 19, 2018.

 

CRAWFORD COUNTY

US Route 30

US 30 eastbound and westbound, between SR 602 and SR 598, will have daily lane closures for bridge sealing operations on overhead structures. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times. The project is expected to be complete August 2018.

 

State Route 39 ***NEW***
SR 39, between CR 74 (Dekalb-Shelby Rd.) and New Haven Rd., will close Monday, August 13 for a culvert extension project. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 29 to SR 98, northeast on SR 98 to SR 598, south on SR 598 to SR 39, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen Friday, August 17, 2018. 

State Route 97

SR 97, from Nazor Rd. to the City of Galion’s east corp. limit, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete September 2018.

State Route 98 ***UPDATE***
SR 98 (Plymouth St.), from SR 4 (Sandusky Ave.) to US 30, is closed for sanitary sewer installations and resurfacing work. No truck traffic will be permitted to travel through this area. Only local traffic will be able to access certain portions of SR 98 as the project progresses. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR 98 to US 30, west on US 30 to SR 4, south on SR 4 to SR 98, and reverse for eastbound motorists. There will be now work from August 17th-18th, due to the Bratwurst Festival. The project is expected to be complete October 2018.

State Route 98
SR 98, between Beechgrove Rd. and Dickson Rd., will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to complete August 2018.

 

State Route 103
SR 103, just west of Swabb Rd., will close Monday August 6 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR 103 to SR 602, south on SR 602 to CR 25 (Chatfield Center Rd.), west on CR 25 to SR 103, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

 

State Route 598

SR 598, from Old Lincoln Way to the City of Galion’s north corp. limit, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete September 2018.

 

ERIE COUNTY
US Route 250
US 250, from Scheid Rd. to the Ohio Turnpike, is reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Crews will be working on the outside lanes and shoulder from Scheid Rd. to SR 113. Traffic will be shifted to the inside lanes in each direction. All work is weather dependent. The project is expected to be complete September 2018.

HURON COUNTY
US Route 250 
US 250, between SR 113 to Lias Rd., will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete September 2018. 

LORAIN COUNTY
US Route 6: Bridge Repairs
US 6, between Washington Ave. and Arizona Ave., will be reduced to one lane of traffic for bridge repairs on the Charles Berry Bascule Bridge. The eastbound lanes to traffic and the south sidewalk are closed. One lane of traffic in each direction is being maintained in the westbound lanes. A sidewalk detour is posted for pedestrians. US Route 20: Major Widening ***UPDATE***
US 20, between Stoney Ridge Rd. and Lear Nagle Rd., will have one lane of traffic maintained in each direction. Traffic will be shifted to the south side of US 20, from Jaycox to Main Ave., on Monday, August 13. There will be one lane in each direction with a turn lane down the center. Widening will then begin on the north side of US 20. The intersection of US 20 and Olive St. will close Monday as well, for intersection improvements. Traffic on Lear Nagle Rd. has been switched to the west side. The dedicated left turns on Lear Nagle Rd. to US 20 have been eliminated. The signal timing has been changed to accommodate the loss of those turn lanes. Construction on the French Creek Bridge continues and the traffic pattern has already been marked and should have little to no effect on traffic. Lanes widths will be reduced to 10’. To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing by the work zone. The project is expected to be complete October 2019; however, all work is weather dependent.

State Route 58
SR 58, from the Ashland County line and through the Village of Wellington, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete August 2018.

State Route 83
SR 83, between SR 82 and Capel Rd., is closed for a bridge replacement. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 83 to SR 82 (Royalton Rd.), west on SR 82 to SR 57, south on SR 57 to SR 83, and reverse for northbound motorists. The project is expected to be complete August 2018.

Interstate 90: Bridge Replacement
I-90, at the bridges over SR 57 and West River Rd., will have nightly lane closures as crews continue work on the bridge replacement. Eastbound I-90 traffic is shifted to the westbound side to complete the construction of the I-90 eastbound structures over SR 57 and West River Rd. West River Rd., under I-90, is closed as crews continue to work on the structure. The detour route for northbound motorists is West River Rd. to Griswold Rd., west on Griswold Rd. to SR 57, north on SR 57 to SR 254 (North Ridge Rd.), east on SR 254 to West River Rd., and reverse for southbound motorists. All exit and entrance ramps to and from SR 57 will remain open. Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling through the area and to be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the zone. The project is expected to be complete May 2019; however, all work is weather dependent.

Interstate 90/State Route 83: Minor Widening
I-90, at the SR 83 exit ramps, will have intermittent lane closures and shoulder work as crews work to widen the ramp. SR 83, northbound and southbound, will have daily lane closures from 9am-3pm as crews begin work to widen SR 83 to the outside between I-90 and Chester Rd. SR 83 exit ramps and I-90 traffic will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete October 2018.

Interstate 90: Resurfacing
I-90, just west of SR 611 to the Cuyahoga County line, will have nightly lane closures for resurfacing work and minor structure repairs. There will be periodic, nightly lane closures on the entrance and exit ramps at SR 611, SR 83, and Nagel Rd. for resurfacing work to the ramps. Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling through the area and to be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the zone. The project is expected to be complete September 2018.

Interstate 90: Noise Wall
I-90 eastbound, between SR 611 and SR 83, will have single lane closures from 6 am – 2 pm, Monday thru Friday, to remove and replace the noise wall. The exit ramp on I-90 eastbound to SR 83 will remain open. The project is expected to be complete October 2018.  

State Route 113

Under SR 113, the Bell Avenue and Adams Street intersection, in the City of Elyria, is closed for a bridge painting project.  The detour for eastbound Bell Avenue motorists is Lake Avenue north to Warden Avenue, east on Warden to Lorain Blvd., south on Lorain Blvd. to Bell Avenue and reverse for westbound motorist.  The detour for northbound Adams St. motorists is Bond Avenue west to Lake Avenue, north on Lake Avenue to Warden Avenue, east on Warden Avenue to Adams St. and reverse for southbound motorist.  The road is expected to reopen in September 2018.

 

Interstate 480 ***UPDATE***
I-480, just east of the Ohio Turnpike over Lorain Rd., will have single lane closures during off peak hours for bridge repairs and painting. Lorain Rd., underneath the I-480 structure, will also have single lane closures from 7am-5pm as crews work on the bridge. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on Lorain Rd. The westbound lane on SR 2 will be closed Saturday, August 18th and Sunday, August 19th, for structure work on the Middle Ridge/South Broadway overpass from 9am-3pm. The project is expected to be complete October 2018.

State Route 511
SR  511, south of Bursley Rd., is closed for a structure replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 511 to SR 162, east on SR 162 to SR 58, north on SR 58 to SR 18, west on SR 18 to SR 511, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen Friday, September 7, 2018.

 

MEDINA COUNTY
County Road 37

CR 37 (Remsen Rd.), at the structure over the Rocky River, is closed for a bridge replacement. The detour route for eastbound motorists is Remsen Rd. to State Rd., north on State Rd. to Everett Rd., east on Everett Rd. to Medina Line Rd., south on Medina Line Rd. to Remsen Rd., and reverse for westbound motorists. The project is expected to be complete August 2018.

US Route 42: Widening Project

US 42, from just south of Harding Street to just south of Reagan Parkway, will have intermittent lane closures as crews continue work. Nightly paving on US 42, between Reagan Parkway and Highland/Harding, will begin Monday night until Wednesday morning. Daytime work will consist of prepping and construction the bike path and driveways. US 42 SOUTHBOUND ONLY, is now closed between Highland Rd. and Homestead St., for roadway widening and reconstruction work. Only northbound traffic on US 42 will be allowed to travel through this area. The detour route for southbound motorists is US 42 to SR 303, east on SR 303 to I-71, south on I-71 to SR 3, and south on SR 3 to US 42. The road is expected to reopen Tuesday, August 21, 2018. Message boards and signs are in place notifying motorists of the traffic pattern change. Businesses can be accessed by utilizing the traffic lights and alleyways. Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling through the work zone and to be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the zone. The entire project is expected to be complete November 2018; however, all work is weather dependent and is subject to change.

US Route 42: Resurfacing
US 42, just south of Hamilton Rd., will have intermittent single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete August 2018.

Interstate 71
I-71, from the Ridgewood Rd. overpass to the Cuyahoga Co. line, will have single lane closures during the day and double lane closures at night for a resurfacing project. Crews continue nightly, double-lane closures to seal the concrete bridge decks and complete asphalt repair work at the SR 18 northbound bridge. The project is expected to be complete August 2018.

 

Interstate 76/State Route 94
I-76, at its interchange with SR 94, and SR 94 in the City of Wadsworth, will have intermittent lane closures while crew work on finalization items of the project. Specific project work can be found online at transportation.ohio.gov/94.  The project is expected to be complete August 2018.

RICHLAND COUNTY
US Route 30 Eastbound Ramp to US 42 Northbound ***NEW***
US 30 eastbound ramp, to US 42 northbound, will close Monday, August 13 from 7:30am-3:30pm to complete pavement repairs and resurfacing work. The detour route for eastbound traffic is to continue east on US 30 to Reed Rd. exit, turn left onto Reed Rd., then turn right to re-enter US 30 westbound, and continue to the US 42 northbound exit ramp. THIS IS A SINGLE DAY CLOSURE. The ramp will reopen Monday, August 13.

 

US Route 30 Eastbound Ramp to I-71 Northbound ***NEW***
US 30 eastbound ramp, to I-71 northbound, will close Tuesday, August 14 from 7:30am-3:30pm to complete pavement repairs and resurfacing work. The detour route for eastbound traffic is to continue east on US 30 to the Koogle Rd. exit, turn right on Koogle Rd., and then continue to the I-71 northbound ramp. THIS IS A SINGLE DAY CLOSURE. The ramp will reopen Tuesday, August 14.

 

State Route 39

SR 39, between Taylortown Rd. and Country Club Dr., will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete October 2018.

 

US Route 42

US 42, between SR 97 and SR 13, will have intermittent single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete October 2018.

 

State Route 96

SR 96, from the City of Shelby Corp. limits to SR 13, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete September 2018.

 

State Route 309 SR 309, from SR 314 to the Richland Co. line, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete October 2018.

 

County Road 322

CR 322 (Orchard Park Rd.), on the structure over I-71, is now closed for bridge repairs. The detour route for eastbound motorists is CR 322 (Orchard Park Rd.) to Middle Bellville Rd., north on Middle Bellville Rd. to West Hanley Rd., east on West Hanley Rd. to SR 13, south on SR 13 to Stafford Dr., west on Stafford Dr. to CR 322, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen Monday, August 20, 2018.

 

WAYNE COUNTY
State Route 21

SR 21, from the bridge over Galehouse Rd. to Eastern Rd., will have periodic lane closures for a resurfacing project. Lane widths will be reduced to 11’ in each direction. The project is expected to be complete September 2018.

 

State Route 57

SR 57, from the southern Corp. limit to the northern Corp. limit in the City of Orrville, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Crews will begin work on the bridge over Little Chippewa River, just south of Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service, to repair the bridge deck, approach slabs, and joint seals. Signalized traffic controls and portable concrete barriers will be used to maintain one lane of traffic over the bridge. The project is expected to be complete November 2018.

 

Interstate 71 ***UPDATE***

I-71, beginning just south of SR 301 and ending at the Medina County line, will have intermittent single lane closures during the day, and double lane closures at night for a resurfacing project. Crews will be working on the north and south bound entrance and exit ramps at SR 301 and SR 539. Traffic will be maintained on the ramps and lanes will be narrowed.  The project will utilize digital speed limit signs to maintain traffic flow. The reduced speed limit when workers are present will be 55mph and will resume a speed limit of 65 mph when crews are NOT working. All work is weather dependent and is subject to change. The project is expected to be complete September 2018.

State Route 83

SR 83, beginning at Burbank Rd. and ending at the Wooster Corp. limit, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete September 2018.

 

US Route 250 ***UPDATE***
US 250, from the bridge over Apple Creek to the Stark Co. line, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Crews will be placing berm and pavement marking work throughout the project. Traffic will be maintained by portable traffic signals and barrier walls on the bridge, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers throughout the rest of the project. The project is expected to be complete October 2018.

State Route 301
SR 301, from the I-71 overpass to the Medina County line, will have intermittent single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Crews will begin striping, guardrail work and rpm instillation. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The projected is expected to be complete October 2018.

State Route 539
SR 539, at the West Salem corporation limits and moving towards the Village of Congress, will have intermittent single lane closures for resurfacing work. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete October 2018; however, all work is weather dependent and is subject to change.

 

State Route 604
SR 604, starting at the Ashland Co. line heading east, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete October 2018.​
