State Route 58 Railroad Grade Separation Project
Village of Wellington
The project will construct a railroad grade separation underpass on State Route 58 at the CSX rail crossing on a new roadway alignment. The project involves reconstructing North Main Street as well as improve Taylor Street and Clay Street.
A subcommittee of ODOT’s Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC) was created and responsible for establishing the criteria for the prioritization and ranking of the railroad grade separation projects. A total of 30 projects were selected to be funded by the program by 2001, and this is the last of these to be constructed.
This project has faced many obstacles along the way, including design, validation of local support and funding. However, in the end these challenges have been overcome and the project funding was approved for construction by the TRAC late last year.
