The National Transportation Act has made available certain Federal funding for use by local public agencies. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) designated ODOT as the agency in Ohio to administer FHWA’s Federal funding programs. 

Section 5501.03 (C) of the Ohio Revised Code provides that ODOT may coordinate its activities and enter into contracts with other appropriate public authorities to administer the design, qualification of bidders, competitive bid letting, construction, inspection, and acceptance of any projects administered by ODOT, provided the administration of such projects is performed in accordance with all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations with oversight by ODOT.

 

 Funding Programs for Local Projects

 
  • Program Resource Guide
    The ODOT Program Resource Guide is a one-stop shopping document intended to provide constituents with information on many different funding options.
  • Transportation Enhancement Program
    The Transportation Enhancement Program provides funds for projects that enhance the transportation experience by improving the cultural, historic, aesthetic and environmental aspects of transportation infrastructure.
  • Small City Program
    The Small City Program provides federal funds Small Cities with populations from 5,000 to 24,999 that are NOT located within Metropolitan Planning Organizations' boundaries.
  • Muncipal Bridge Program
    The Municipal Bridge Program provides federal funds to municipal corporations and Regional Transit Authorities for bridge replacement or bridge rehabilitation projects.
  • Credit Bridge Program
    The Credit Bridge Program is available to local governments who use Federal-aid funds to replace or rehabilitate their bridges.
  • Metropark Program
    The Metropark Program provides state funds for park drives or park roads within the boundaries of county parks created under sections 511.18 to 511.34 and 1545.01 to 1545.22 of the Revised Code, together with roads leading from state highway to and into any such park.
  • Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality Program
    The CMAQ program will provide funding for transportation projects and programs that will reduce transportation related emissions.
