State Route 7 in Pierpont Township

(Until further notice)

Effective immediately, SR 7 is closed one mile south of SR 167 due to a culvert failure. The detour is SR 167 to SR 193 to US 6.  

State Route 531 in the City of Ashtabula

(Friday, April 10)

SR 531 at the Ashtabula Lift Bridge is scheduled to re-open to traffic on Friday, April 10.

(The week of Monday, April 13)                                          

SR 531 at the Ashtabula Lift Bridge will be closed to traffic Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily. The detour is SR 45 to US 20 to SR 11 to SR 531. Access to all residences and establishments will be maintained during construction.

This work is part of a $5.4 million project to make electrical, mechanical and structural repairs to the Lift Bridge and to paint the bridge and repair the deck.

State Routes 170 and 617 in Springfield Township

(Monday, April 13 – Until further notice)

Beginning Monday, April 13, the following road closures will occur:

  • SR 170 from SR 617 to the Ohio Turnpike. The detour will be SR 617 to SR 165 to SR 626 to SR 164 to I-680 to US 224.
  • SR 617 at SR 170. The detour will be PA 351 to PA 551 to PA 168 to PA 51 to SR 14 to SR 165.
  • East Garfield Rd., east of SR 170. The detour will be Stateline Rd. to Columbiana Rd. to Unity Rd.

All roads are scheduled to be closed until June 12 for intersection and roadway re-construction. Detours will be posted. This work is part of a $1.8 million project to improve the intersection of SR 170 (Youngstown-Pittsburg Rd.) and SR 617/E. Garfield Rd. as well as pavement widening and replacement on SR 170 from the intersection to the Ohio Turnpike. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late July 2009.  

U. S. Route 224 in Boardman Township

(The week of Monday, April 6)

Beginning Monday, April 6, US 224 over Mill Creek will have various daytime lane restrictions to prepare for bridge work. This work is the beginning of a $800,000 project to replace the existing bridge deck on the US 224 bridge over Mill Creek. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late September 2009.  

Interstate 680 in the City of Youngstown

(Until further notice)

The following lane restrictions will occur:

  • I-680 from South Ave. to Steel St. will have various daytime lane restrictions from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. throughout the week. 
  • Ridge, Glenwood & Mahoning Avenues over I-680 as well as the SR 193 exit ramps to I-680 will have various daytime lane restrictions throughout the week with traffic being maintained by flaggers for bridge deck repair. 

This work is part of a $6.9 million project to resurface I-680 from Steel St. to US 224. Project also includes lighting improvements, drainage improvements and minor bridge repairs. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by mid-September 2009.

Western Reserve Road at Interstate 680 in Boardman and Springfield Townships

(Until further notice)

The following traffic changes are in place at Western Reserve Rd. and I-680

  • Western Reserve Rd. over I-680 is reduced to one lane in each direction for bridge work.
  • The two left turn lanes onto Western Reserve Rd. from southbound South Ave. has been reduced to one left turn lane.
  • I-680 at Western Reserve Rd. will have possible daytime lane restrictions in either or both directions.

These conditions are expected to last until the end of April. This work is part of a $2.9 million project to resurface State Routes 164, 165, 170 and 617 as well as the I-680 ramps at the SR 164/Western Reserve Rd. interchange in Beaver, Boardman and Springfield Townships. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late June 2009.  

State Route 11 in the City of Canfield and Beaver Township

(Until further notice)

Mahoning Ave. over SR 11 is reduced to one lane in each direction for bridge reconstruction. SR 11 at Mahoning Ave. will have various lane restrictions in either or both directions for bridge work. This work is part of a $7 million project to re-deck and paint bridges over SR 11 at Mahoning Ave. and Western Reserve, Kirk, and New roads. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late August 2009. 

State Route 11 Rest Areas

(Until further notice)

The rest areas located along both directions of SR 11 approximately four miles from the Columbiana County line are closed for repair work.  

U. S. Route 62/U. S. Route 422/State Route 7 in the City of Youngstown

(Until further notice)

The following lane restrictions/closures are in place on the Madison Avenue Expressway at Valley Street:

·         The Madison Ave. Expressway (US-62/US-422/SR-7) from Wick Ave. to Oak St. is reduced to one lane in each direction until early December for bridge work.

·         The exit ramp from US 62/SR 7 southbound to the Madison Ave. Expressway (US 62/US 422/SR 7) westbound is closed until mid-August. The detour is Alberts St. to McGuffey Rd. to Wick Ave. to the Madison Ave. Expressway (US 62/US 422/SR 7) westbound.

·         The exit ramp from the Madison Ave. Expressway (US 62/US 422/SR 7) eastbound to US 62/SR 7 southbound is closed until mid-August. The detour is to continue on the Madison Ave. Expressway (US 422) to Oak St. to Hine St. to the East River Crossing entrance ramp to US 62/SR 7 southbound.

·         Valley St. at the Madison Ave. Expressway (US 62/US 422/SR 7) is closed until early December. For westbound Valley St. traffic, the detour is McHenry St. to Alberts St. to McGuffey Rd. to Andrews Ave. For eastbound Valley St. traffic, the detour is Andrews Ave. to McGuffey Rd. to Palm St. to Star St.         

Access to all residences and establishments will be maintained during construction.  

This work is part of a $7.3 million project to rehabilitate the bridges on US 62/US 422/SR7 over Crab Creek, Andrews Ave, Valley St. and the Norfolk Southern railroad. The project includes replacement of the bridge decks and approach slabs as well as substructure repairs. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by mid-June 2010.  

Interstate 80 in Austintown Township

(Until further notice)

I-80 from the Ohio Turnpike to the I-80/SR 11 interchange has a minimum of two lanes open in each direction. This work is part of a $91.5 million major widening and reconstruction project of I-80 between the Ohio Turnpike and the I-80/SR 11 interchange. The project includes the reconstruction and replacement of the existing 2,500-foot twin bridges over the Meander Creek Reservoir. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by October 2009.

State Route 11 in Johnstown and Fowler Townships

(Until further notice)

The April 6 closure of Bradley Brownlee Rd. at SR 11 has been rescheduled until Thursday, April 16. At that time, Bradley Brownlee Rd. will close for 3 days.

As a reminder, SR 11 from just north of SR 305 to SR 5/88 is reduced to one lane in each direction for bridge work. This work is part of an $8.8 million project to resurface SR 11 from King Graves Rd. to south of SR 5 as well as bridge work to the SR 11 twin bridges over Big Run, Fowler Ridge Rd. over SR 11, and Everett Cortland Hull Rd. over SR 11. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by October 2009.

U. S. Route 62 in the City of Hubbard

(Until further notice)

US 62 from SR 304/Westview Ave. to Moore St. has various lane restrictions when weather permits for traffic signal work. This work is part of a $1.7 million project to upgrade ten traffic signals in the City of Hubbard.
