State Route 82 in Hiram Township to Re-Open One Month Ahead of Schedule

SR 82 in the Village of Hiram is scheduled to RE-OPEN by 5 p.m. today, Tuesday, November 19. The road is opening one month ahead of schedule. ODOT fast tracked the project to replace a dangerous roadway condition on SR 82 a half mile south of SR 305. A steel culvert buried 26 feet below the surface of the roadway had begun to deteriorate more quickly than anticipated. An emergency project was sold to Kenmore Construction and work began in late October.

“This project consisted of digging an 80 foot wide hole so we could replace the culvert 26 feet below the asphalt. We also replaced the guardrail and did some various landscaping,” John Mazzola ODOT Project Manager said. “Motorists can now safely travel SR 82 to get to their destination.”

When a safety concern presents itself, ODOT is committed to quickly resolving the issue to maintain the integrity of Ohio’s transportation infrastructure. The total cost for this project is estimated between $300,000 and $400,000.
