State Route 8 in the City of Akron

(Friday night, August 1 – Monday morning, August 4)

Beginning Friday night, August 1, SR 8 southbound at the bridge over North St. and the Little Cuyahoga River (just north of Perkins St.) will be reduced to one lane for bridge deck work. This one lane condition on SR 8 southbound will begin at 8 p.m. Friday night, August 1 and will continue until 5 a.m. Monday morning, August 4. Delays can be expected.

(The week of Monday, August 4)

SR 8 at the bridge over North St. and the Little Cuyahoga River (just north of Perkins St.) will have single lane restrictions in either or both directions throughout the week from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. nightly.

This work is part of a $4.5 million project to overlay the bridge deck on the SR 8 bridge over North St. and the Little Cuyahoga River. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late October 2008.

 

State Route 8 in the Cities of Stow and Hudson and the Village of Boston Heights

(Monday, August 4 – Until further notice)

  • Beginning Monday morning, August 4, SR 8 northbound from Steels Corners Rd. to SR 303 will be reduced to two lanes for pavement repair. This two lane condition on SR 8 northbound will begin at 5:30 a.m. Monday morning and will remain until further notice.
  • Beginning Monday night, August 4, SR 8 northbound from Steels Corners Rd. to SR 303 will be reduced to one lane throughout the week from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. nightly.

This work is the beginning of a $4.3 million project to perform minor repairs and diamond grinding to the concrete pavement from Graham Rd. to SR 303 as well as partial resurfacing from SR 303 to Hines Hill Rd. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late May 2009.

 

State Route 18 (East and West Market Street) in the City of Akron

(Friday night, August 1 – Saturday morning, August 2)

Beginning Friday night, August 1, SR 18 (East and West Market St.) from Prospect St. to SR 59 (the Akron Innerbelt) will have various lane restrictions for resurfacing. These restrictions will begin at 7 p.m. Friday night and will continue until 9 a.m. Saturday morning.

(Monday night, August 4 – Wednesday morning, August 6)

SR 18 (East and West Market St.) from Prospect St. to SR 59 (the Akron Innerbelt) will have various lane restrictions for resurfacing. These restrictions will occur both Monday and Tuesday nights from

7 p.m. until 7 a.m. nightly.

This work is part of an $800,000 project to resurface E. Market St. from South Arlington St. to SR 59 (the Akron Innerbelt). The entire project is scheduled to be complete by early August 2008. 

 

State Route 21 in the City of Norton and Copley Township

(Until further notice)

SR 21 from SR 585 to Minor Rd. will have lane restrictions in either or both directions throughout the week from 5 p.m. until 6 a.m. nightly. This work is part of an $8.9 million project to resurface SR 21 from SR 585 to I-77 as well as minor bridge work. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by July 2009.

 

Interstate 77 in Copley Township & the cities of Akron & Fairlawn

(Friday night, August 1 – Saturday morning, August 2)

The following lane restrictions and ramp closures will be in place from 8 p.m. Friday night until 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

·        I-77 northbound and southbound from Ridgewood Rd. to SR 21 will be reduced to one lane in either or both directions.

·        The SR 18 eastbound entrance ramp to I-77 southbound will be closed. The detour will be SR 18 eastbound to I-77 northbound to the Ghent Rd. exit to I-77 southbound.

·        The SR 21 northbound entrance ramp to I-77 southbound will be closed. The detour will be to SR 21/I-77 northbound to the Ghent Rd. exit to I-77 southbound.

·        The Cleveland-Massillon Rd. entrance ramp to I-77 southbound will be closed. The detour will be Cleveland-Massillon Rd. to Ridgewood Rd. to I-77 southbound or Cleveland-Massillon Rd. northbound to SR 18 westbound to I-77 southbound.

(The week of Monday, August 4)

·        I-77 northbound and southbound at Ridgewood Rd. will have lane restrictions throughout the week from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. nightly.

·        SR 21 northbound, just south of the I-77 split, will have daily lane restrictions from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. 

·        Cleveland Massillon Road under I-77 will be reduced to one lane in each direction daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

This work is part of a $63.6 million project to widen and reconstruct I-77 from SR 162 (Copley Rd.) to SR 21. Included is the reconstruction of the Ridgewood and Brunsdorph Rd. bridges and the off-ramp from I-77 northbound to SR 21 south. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late October 2008.

 

Interstate 77 in Bath Township

(Friday, August 1 - Until further notice)

The rest area on I-77 northbound between the I-271 and Ghent Rd. interchanges is closed until September 1 for waterline installation. The rest area on I-77 southbound within this same area will remain open until August 15. At that time, it too will close until September 1.

 

State Route 82 in the City of Macedonia

(Until further notice)

SR 82 at Valley View Rd. will be reduced to one lane with two-way traffic being maintained with flaggers. This one lane condition on SR 82 will occur Sunday through Thursday nights from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. through late August. North Bedford Rd./East Valley View Rd. at SR 82 in the City of Macedonia is closed until early October for reconstruction and widening. The detour is Park Ave. to Crow Dr. to Berkshire Rd. This work is part of an $18 million project to widen SR 82 to five lanes from South Bedford Rd. to just east of Crow Dr. with the replacement of the railroad bridge over SR 82 in the City of Macedonia. This project also includes drainage and signal improvements. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late October 2009

State Routes 241 (Massillon Road) and 764 (Triplett Boulevard/Wilbeth Road) in the City of Akron

(Friday, August 1 - Saturday, August 2)

  • Wilbeth Rd. (SR 764) over I-77 will have various lane restrictions on Friday, August 1 from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.   
  • Triplett Blvd. (SR 764) from South Arlington St. to just east of Kelly Ave. will have various lane restrictions both Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2 from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.   

(The week of Monday, August 4)

SR 241 (Massillon Rd.) from the southern Akron corporation limit to SR 764 (Triplett Blvd./Wilbeth Rd.) and SR 764 from SR 241 to Brown St. will have various daily lane restrictions for resurfacing.  This work is part of a $1.1 million project to resurface SR 241 from the southern Akron corporation limit to SR 764 and SR 764 from SR 241 to Brown St.  The entire project is scheduled to be complete by mid August 2008. 

State Route 303 in the Villages of Peninsula and Boston Heights and Boston Township

(Until further notice)

SR 303 from the western Peninsula corporation limit to Chittenden Rd. will have daily lane restrictions with traffic being maintained by flaggers. This work is part of a $1 million project to resurface SR 303 from the western Peninsula corporation limit to Chittenden Rd. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by mid September 2008. 

Interstate 480 in the cities of Twinsburg and Macedonia

(Friday night, August 1 – Monday morning, August 4)

Beginning Friday night, August 1, I-480 at the bridge over Bedford Rd. will be reduced to one lane in either or both directions for bridge deck work. These one lane conditions on I-480 will begin at 7 p.m. Friday night, August 1 and will continue until 5 a.m. Monday morning, August 4.

(The week of Monday, August 4)

I-480 from the Cuyahoga County line to SR 82 will have lane restrictions in either or both directions throughout the week from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. nightly. Shepard Rd. over I-480 as well as Chamberlin Rd. and Bedford Rd. under I-480 will have daily lane restrictions with traffic being maintained by flaggers. This work is part of a $3.1 million project to resurface I-480 from the Cuyahoga County line to west of SR 82. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by mid September 2008.

State Route 8 and Interstate 271 in Boston Heights, Hudson, Macedonia and Northfield Center Township

(Until further notice)

The following is a list of current restrictions on SR 8 and I-271.

·        SR 8 under I-271 will have various daily lane restrictions in either or both directions. For this week, these lane restrictions on SR 8 will occur Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily. 

·        SR 8 northbound and southbound are traveling bi-directionally onto the newly constructed northbound section. The speed limit for both directions of SR-8 from Hines Hill Rd. to I-271 is now posted at 40 mph.

·        Twinsburg Rd. at SR 8 is closed until late fall 2009. The detours are Hines Hill Rd. to Walters Rd. to Twinsburg Rd. and Hines Hill Rd. to Olde Eight Rd. to Twinsburg Rd.

·        I-271 northbound and southbound at the I-271/SR 8 interchange is reduced to one 11’ through lane with the right lanes in each direction being an exit-only lane to SR 8. In addition, the I-271 southbound exit ramp to SR 8 is reduced to 11’ as well.  These restrictions will remain in place until late September 2009 and are necessary in order to begin the construction of the new I-271 ramps to and from SR 8 and for the reconstruction of three bridges; one over SR 8, one over Brandywine; and one over Olde Eight Rd.. Motorists can expect delays

This work is part of a $109.7 million project for the reconstruction of SR 8 from just south of Twinsburg Rd. to just north of I-271.  Five new bridges will be constructed.  The existing ramps will be improved.  New ramps will be built to access I-271 from SR 8 northbound and SR 8 southbound from I-271 southbound.  Included is a new 1000-foot service road from Hines Hill Rd.  SR 8 is being separated from Twinsburg Rd. and Highland Rd. has been widened with additional turn lanes and new signalization.  The entire project is scheduled to be complete by mid-summer 2010.  

State Route 8 and Steels Corners Road in the City of Stow

(Until further notice)

Traffic pattern changes are in place on Steels Corners Rd. at the SR 8 interchange and at the intersection of Steels Corners Road, Allen Road, and Hudson Drive.  As a result, the available lanes on Steels Corners Road have been reduced or changed.  Delays can be expected.

This work is part of a $5.7 million project to widen and reconstruct Steels Corners Rd. from the SR 8 interchange to the Steels Corners Rd./Allen Rd./Hudson Dr. intersection. The project also includes the reconstruction of the existing ramps at SR 8, the Steels Corners Rd. bridge over SR 8 and both Hudson Dr. and Allen Rd. at the intersection of Steels Corners Rd. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late September 2009. 

State Route 18 (East Market Street) in the City of Akron

(Until further notice)

E. Market St. is reduced to one lane in each direction from Massillon Rd. to Elm Dr. for widening and reconstruction. This work is part of an $8 million project to resurface E. Market St. from Martha Ave. to Elm Dr. and to widen and reconstruct SR-18 from Elm Dr. to Massillon Rd. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late October 2008. 

State Route 59 (Akron Innerbelt) in the City of Akron

(Until further notice)

The entrance ramp from W. Exchange St./Dart Ave. to SR 59 northbound (Akron Innerbelt) is closed until early August for bridge painting. The detour is Dart Ave. north to the entrance ramp to SR 59 northbound just north of Locust St. As a reminder, SR 59 (Akron Innerbelt) from SR 18 (W. Market St.) to I-76/I-77 will have various lane restrictions in either or both directions for bridge painting. This work is the beginning of a $2 million project to paint 5 bridges along the SR 59 (Akron Innerbelt). The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late October 2008.

 Interstate 271 in Boston Township

(Until further notice)

I-271 over the Cuyahoga River will be reduced to one lane in either or both directions during off peak hours. This work is part of a $34.7 million project to replace the I-271 twin bridges over the Cuyahoga River and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late October 2009.
