The Ohio Department of Transportation is starting a $6.5 million project to replace and widen the US 224 bridge over SR 11 and widen Raccoon Rd. at US 224. The project also includes the widening of the SR 11 southbound ramp to US 224.
Beginning in late March, US 224 over SR 11 will be reduced to one lane in each direction while the contractor begins to replace and widen the structure. Shortly afterwards in April, work will begin at US 224 and Raccoon Rd. An additional right turn lane will be added to all legs of this intersection. Also, an additional right turn lane will be added on US 224 westbound between Raccoon Rd. and SR 11. This lane will serve as an exclusive exit lane from US 224 westbound to SR 11 northbound. The project also includes the widening of the SR 11 southbound ramp to US 224 to add a dedicated right turn lane. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by late October 2015. The contractor for this project is A.P. O’Horo Company from Youngstown.
All work at Raccoon Rd. is scheduled to be completed by late August 2015, meaning traffic will be able to flow uninterrupted to the Canfield Fair in early September via Raccoon Rd. and Fairgrounds Blvd.
