SR 43 Project in North Canton
 
​In October 2016, the Ohio Department of Transportation began a three year, $14.3 million project to widen SR 43/Market Ave. through the City of North Canton and Plain Township. The project includes the widening of Market Ave. from two to five lanes between 55th St. and Applegrove St. The project also includes drainage improvements, a pedestrian/bicycle tunnel just south of Kingscote Circle and additional turning lanes at  55th St., Schneider St., E. Maple St., and Easton St. The project completion date is fall 2018.

 2016-2017 Details

 
2016 – 2017 Winter Season​ ​
​Underground storm sewer and water main work will be  performed between 55th and Applegrove. Traffic will have various lane restrictions.

2017 Construction Season  ​ ​
​Shift traffic on to temporary pavement and widen the north side of 55th, the south side of Schneider, and the east side of Market Ave. between 55th and E. Maple/Easton.

​Traffic will then be shifted to the newly constructed pavement with widening work occurring on the south side of 55th, the north side of Schneider, and the west side of Market Ave. between 55th and E. Maple/Easton.

Work within the  intersections of 55th St. and Schneider St. will be completed under weekend closures. (Friday 8 p.m. to Monday, 6 a.m.)

​A pedestrian and bicycle tunnel under Market Ave. will be  constructed just south of Kingscote Circle. Market Ave. just south of Kingscote Circle is closed through late June 2017 5.PNG


Access to intersecting residential streets and commercial drives will be maintained utilizing flaggers as needed. ​

2018 Construction Season​ ​
Shift traffic on to temporary pavement and widen the south side of E. Maple, the south side of Easton, and the east side of Market Ave. between E. Maple/Easton and Applegrove

Traffic will then be shifted to the newly constructed         pavement with widening work occurring on the north side of E. Maple, the north side of Easton, and the west side of Market Ave. between E. Maple./Easton and Applegrove.

Complete final surface paving of the entire project.
