Jason L. Sturgeon, P.E.
District 5 Deputy Director
Jason L. Sturgeon was appointed the positon of Deputy
Director of the Ohio Department of Transportation District Five in March of
2018. District Five consists of seven counties that include: Coshocton, Fairfield, Guernsey, Knox, Licking, Muskingum, and Perry. Jason manages a staff of over 300 employees who Plan, Design, Construct and Maintain a system of 3,731 highway miles, on state and interstate routes within District Five, headquartered in Jacksontown, Ohio.
Jason grew up near Somerset, Ohio,
graduated from Sheridan High School, and currently resides near Somerset with his wife and two daughters. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Ohio
State University and is a registered Professional Engineer. Following
graduation from college and several years in the private sector, Jason started
his career with ODOT District Five in 2000 as a transportation engineer.
During his 18 years with ODOT
District Five, Jason has held the positions of transportation engineer in both
the planning and design sections, Real Estate Administrator, District Design
Engineer, Planning and Engineering Administrator, and Capital Programs
Department of Transportation activities within the seven-county region of
District Five fall under the guidance of the District Deputy Director. The Deputy
Director assists in strategic planning, short and long term goal setting,
performance measurement and policy development and deployment on both the
statewide and districtwide level. The Deputy Director also represents and communicates
the activities, views and policies of the department with representatives of
local, state and federal agencies, elected officials of local, state and
federal governments, consultants, contractors, vendors, the news media and the
