The Ohio Department of Transportation is currently in the planning phase of a proposed project to reconstruct I-70 though Zanesville. The project is currently scheduled to be under construction by Spring 2021. The current estimated cost of the project is $75,000,000, with funding through the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Major Reconstruction Program.
The I-70 construction area lies primarily within the boundaries of the City of Zanesville. The resurfacing begins at the interchange of US 40 to the west and SR 93 to the east. Full depth pavement reconstruction begins west of the Licking Road overpass, includes the Maple Avenue ramps, Maple Avenue at the ramp termini and ends east of the abandoned Railroad overpass. Traffic will be maintained for the duration of the project.

• Summer/Fall 2020: Design plans/Right of Way process complete
• Winter 2021: Project sale
• Spring 2021: Construction start
• Fall/Winter 2025: Approximate Construction Complete
