The District 5 Office of Planning & Engineering has a dedicated staff that is organized into three main sections: Engineering, Planning, and Real Estate. The Engineering Section is responsible for all In-House Design, Consultant Administration, Railroad Coordination, and Geographical Information System (GIS) Coordination. The Planning Section is responsible for Project Programming and Funding, Environmental Coordination, Asset Management (including bridges, culverts, and pavement), Local Project Coordination, Access and Utility Permits, and the Traffic & Safety Program. The Real Estate Section is responsible for Right-of-Way Design and Acquisition, Survey Operations, and Utility Relocation.
