Licking County SR 13 Closures and SR 16 Traffic
Sunday, March 19th, at 7:00pm, the traffic pattern on SR 13 and SR 16 will
change in downtown Newark in order to begin construction to the Mount Vernon
Road bridge over SR 16.
13 northbound and SR 13 southbound will be closed at SR 16. The detour signs are posted along the project
and involve using 21st Street for through traffic. SR 16 eastbound and westbound traffic will
have lane shifts where the through travel lanes will use the ramps at the SR
13/Hudson Avenue/Mount Vernon Road interchange.
to the traffic pattern changes on SR 16, the speed limit will be reduced to 45
mph. Along the ramps in both directions,
the signalized intersections will flash yellow meaning that traffic should use
caution while traveling along the corridor.
Traffic is permitted to turn right from SR 16 onto SR 13 in the right
lane only along both corridors. Traffic
will not be permitted to turn from SR 13 onto SR 16. This work is expected to last until Friday,
March 24th, at 7:00pm.
7:00pm on March 24th, SR 13 will be open to two-way traffic, and SR 16 traffic
will no longer be on the ramps. The
Mount Vernon Road bridge will still be closed and the detour will be posted
using the service road from Mount Vernon Road to Hudson Avenue. The service road will be two-way traffic
during this phase of construction.
