State Route 161 – Mink
Street Interchange Construction Update
Work is set to begin on the SR-161 and Mink
Street Interchange the last week of March. The project work will be begin with
the demolition of properties near Mink Street and SR-161 on Sunday, March 26th.
Prime contractor, Trucco Construction, will be partnering with the Monroe
Township Fire Department in the burning demolition of the properties for
A 45 day closure of Mink Street will occur
beginning the first week of
April. Approximately 25% of work was completed in 2016, so there will be a lot
of work to do this season. This season the contractor will install embankment
on the north side of SR 161 for the new ramps and complete concrete pavement,
safety items, underground work, and installation of new signals. Cobbs Road
access will be maintained at all times it is safe for public to pass through
the area until New Albany completes their Innovation Way. ODOT plans to open
the new interchange in late fall of 2017.
The environmental review,
consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental
laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by ODOT pursuant to
23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and
executed by FHWA and ODOT.
