Newark-Granville Rd to close for
work on Cherry Valley Interchange
Jacksontown, Ohio (Monday, August 8th, 2016) – Work to construct the new interchange of Thornwood Crossing and Newark-Granville Road will require the temporary closure of Newark-Granville Road starting Monday, August 15th.
The 21-day closure will allow ODOT to safely install turn lanes at the new intersection. This will tie Newark-Granville Rd. into the Cherry Valley Interchange on State Route 16, expected to open to traffic in late October.
Motorists traveling westbound on State Route 16 should use Cherry Valley Road to access Newark-Granville Rd. If motorist are heading eastbound, they should use State Route 16 to the West Church Street/Country Club Dr. exit.
This closure is expected to be completed by September 5th, 2016.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset--the transportation system. ODOT's mission is to provide the safe and easy movement of people and goods from place to place. As a $2.8 billion per year enterprise, ODOT invests the bulk of its resources in system preservation through maintenance, construction and snow and ice operations.
“The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.”
