District 5 Weekly Traffic Advisory
For the week of September 11, 2015
The following traffic advisory includes road construction and
major maintenance projects requiring lane restrictions and/or closures along
the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 5, which includes
the counties of Coshocton, Fairfield, Guernsey, Knox, Licking, Muskingum, and
Perry. All work is weather permitting. For statewide information

SR 751: Beginning Wednesday, September 9th, the road will be
closed for multiple culvert replacements. The road will be closed for 10 days
at two different locations. The first
location is approximately 2.5 miles north of US 36. The second location is between TR 248 and
Bakersville. Traffic will be detoured
to I-77 to US 36. Motorist’s traveling
north from US 36 will not be able to reach Rainbow Hills Winery or Bakersville.
US 33: Crews continue to work on
a new Carroll Interchange. The
contractor is now working on the bridge and continuing work on the
connector. Two lanes of traffic will
be maintained in each direction.
US 22: Work continues on a new bridge near Rushville. The contractor is placing forms on the deck
of the bridge and working on the pavement on either side. The project will
open to traffic in October 2015. The
projected is expected to be completed in June of 2016.
256: One lane remains closed while crews work on two bridges. Currently, crews are working on the bridge
deck and sidewalks. The project is
expected to be completed in October of 2015.
continue to work on widening the road and installing raised median within the
city of Pickerington. The project is expected to be competed in November of
I-70: Crews are working from the
Muskingum County line through the SR 723 Interchange. Traffic will be
restricted while crews work from 6:00p.m.-3:00p.m. Sunday to Thursday and
6:00p.m.-1:00p.m. Thursday through Saturday. This schedule will
continue through September 5, 2015 weather permitting.
SR 209: Asphalt paving operations, on SR
821 and SR 209, from Byesville through the City of Cambridge, are wrapping up
with driveway and intersection approach paving and other miscellaneous items.
The bridge rehabilitation work south of Woodlawn Ave. continues.
I-70: Crews are continuing to work on
the I-70 bridges over SR 265, as part of a bridge widening and deck
replacement project. Traffic is currently shifted over, with a portion of the
driving lanes on the outside shoulders. This traffic pattern will be in effect
until Phase 1 of the project is completed in the Spring. Drivers should expect occasional lane
closures, as well, during hours when traffic is not at its peak. Pile driving
operations will be starting after Labor Day.
I-70: The bridge painting contractor
is beginning set-up and painting operations, for the County Home Road bridge,
over I-70, near the Guernsey County Fairgrounds. This work will require periodic lane
closures on I-70, beneath the bridge, as work progresses.
SR 658: The paving work on this project
will be suspended for a few weeks.
When the contractor returns, traffic will continue to experience minor
delays, as paving operations continue, with flaggers used to maintain two-way
traffic. This project extends from SR
209, east of Cambridge, north, to SR 541.
County Road 366: This location is closed for a
maximum of 60 days, while the existing drainage structures are replaced with
a small bridge. The contractor is currently working on the new foundations.
Monday, August 24th, crews will begin paving throughout Knox
County. Traffic will be reduced to one lane at each of the following
August 31st to Friday, September 4th
between Mt. Vernon and SR 3
North between Mt. Vernon and Ashland County line
September 8th to Friday, September 11th
between US 36 and Coshocton County line
West between Mt. Vernon and Morrow County line
will begin work at each day starting at 7:00 a.m. and reopen at 5:00 p.m., weather
permitting. Schedule is subject to change.
SR 657: Beginning September 8th, one lane will be closed
while crews work to replace a bridge deck.
Work will take place Tuesday-Friday from 6:30a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Traffic will be maintained with a temporary
signal. The project is expected to be
completed Friday, September 11th.
Township Road 232: Beginning August 31 TR 232 (Seven Hills Road) in
Licking County will be closed. Crews will be replacing the existing structure
over Columbus and Ohio River Railroad between Marne Road and the T.J. Evans
Trail. The project is expected to be finished November 30, 2015.
Township Rd. 35: Tuesday, August
25, Beaver Run Rd. will be reduced to one lane between SR 37 and Thornwood
Drive for resurfacing. Crews will work
from 7:00am-5:00pm each day and traffic will be maintained with flaggers. The
project is expected to be completed November, 15, 2015.
US 62: August 12th, work began on a new
pedestrian bridge in Licking County. Crews will work between Bigelow
Drive and Wesview Drive on US 62. Traffic will be maintained with limited
lane closures as needed.
I-70: Beginning Wednesday, September 9th crews will work
between Underwood and SR 93 ramps EB and WB on a shoulder repair. Work will take place between 7:30a.m. to
2:00 p.m. One lane will be closed in
each direction and drivers should expect delays. Work is expected to finish September 10th.
SR 60: Beginning Tuesday, September 15th, crews will begin
work on SR 60 just south of Rio Villa Drive in Blue Rock Twp. for a culvert
repair. Work will take place from
7:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and traffic will be maintained with a temporary signal. The project is expected to be completed
bridge painting contractor is continuing their work, on the Ridge Road
bridge, over I-70. This work will
require periodic lane closures on I-70, beneath the bridge, as work progresses.
SR 555: Prior
to the placement of the surface asphalt, crews will be performing a chip-seal
layer on most of the portions of this route in Muskingum and Perry Counties,
and there are also some sections in Morgan County that will be milled and
paved. Two-way traffic will be maintained, for the duration of the project,
by the use of flaggers. This project
is scheduled for completion on October 31, 2015.
County Road Projects: The
following Muskingum County Roads are closed for the next 60-90 days for replacement
of the existing bridges.
Rural Dale Road over Guyst Fork
(Anticipated reopening is 10/02/15)
Cutler Lake Road over the Mann’s Fork of
Salt Creek (Anticipated reopening is 10/22/15)
Hamby Hill Road over Wakatomika
Creek (Anticipated reopening is
US 22: One lane remains closed while
crews work on two bridges. Currently,
crews are working on the bridge west of US22/SR204 intersection. The project is expected to be completed in October
to work on resurfacing SR13 from Athens county line to New Lexington. The
project is expected to be completed in September of 2015.
Crews will be performing asphalt repairs at
various locations: Coshocton SR 643 and SR 651 is nearing completion,
Guernsey County SR 313, Licking County US 40, and Fairfield County SR
159. Two way traffic will be
maintained with flaggers during the temporary operation. The project is expected to be complete by
November 15, 2015.
