Jacksontown, Ohio (Monday, October 19, 2015) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has been studying the
corridor of State Route16 from the interchange of State Route 60 (Frazeysburg
Rd.)/SR 16 to the County Road (CR) 6/SR16 intersection.
During this time, ODOT has received
data, documentation and comments in order to develop a Purpose and Need for
the potential development of a project, which is part of the standard process
for a project of this scope. The studies focused on Macro-corridor
Completion, Future Traffic Growth and Safety along with other factors. Based on these studies (See Study Here), ODOT has determined that a project involving the
construction of a newly aligned SR 16 is not warranted at this time.
A Purpose and Need Planning Study
Report developed in 2007 showed most of the projected problems along SR 16
were predominately based on future conditions projections that never were
seen. The attached matrix shows the
Purpose and Need Elements that were used to initiate project studies in 2007
and how those elements compare to present day.
this time, based on the review conducted this year, ODOT District 5 will not
provide any additional funding to pursue this study further. If localized needs at certain points throughout
the corridor present themselves, ODOT is willing to work with local
stakeholders and/or officials on potential solutions to those localized
issues. Please feel free to contact
Tyrell Thompson at (740)323-5194, if you have further questions regarding the
conclusion of the Transportation Study.
