State Route 541 to be closed until mid-July for tree trimming operations
ODOT uses “Jaraff” to clear canopy over roadway
Jacksontown, Ohio (Thursday, June 13, 2013) – Beginning next Monday, June 17th, a 10 mile stretch of State Route 541 in Coshocton County will be closed through mid-July during daytime hours, only, to allow for tree trimming and clearing operations.
ODOT’s Coshocton County crew will be utilizing a special piece of equipment called the “Jaraff” to trim and cut trees along SR 541. The “Jaraff” is an all-terrain tree trimmer that allows for smaller crews to do more work in less time. This machine maximizes production and enhances worker and operator safety by allowing the operator and workers on site to never leave the ground.
Tree trimming operations are a very important part of ODOT’s roadway maintenance operations. Clearing overhead canopy from roadways improves pavement longevity and increases motorist’s safety, especially during winter months.
SR 541 will be closed beginning at the Guernsey County line to the Coshocton city limits to allow for operations. Work will be performed during daytime hours from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and should be completed by Friday, July 19th, 2013, weather permitting.
Motorists will be detoured via SR 16/ US Route 36, to I-77 south, to Exit 54 (Kimbolton exit).
