The following work is planned in the Madison County area on the specified dates and times. All work is weather dependent; it may be postponed or cancelled without prior notice.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16
Interstate 70 – (NEW) I-70 east will be reduced to one lane between US 42 ans SR 142 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for pavement repair. Two lanes will be open by 6 a.m. Monday.
The ramp from US 42 to I-70 east and the ramp from SR 29 to I-70 east will also be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for pavement work. The detour is US 40 to SR 142 to I-70 east.
State Route 56 –SR 56 will be closed in both directions at Lincoln Street for a culvert replacement. The detour is SR 56 to SR 38 to I-71 to SR 56 or reverse. Completion date: October 21.
US Route 40 – US 40 (Main Street) will be reduced to one 10-foot lane in each direction in West Jefferson between SR 142 (London Road) and SR 142 (Plain City/Georgesville Road for storm sewer installation. The truck detour for US 40 (Main Street) is SR 142 to I-70 to US 42. The truck detour for SR 142 is US 42 (London) to I-70 to SR 142. Completion date: October 2011.
State Route 323 – SR 323 will close at 7 a.m. at County Road 9 (Yankeetown-Chenoweth) for bridge replacement. The road will be closed for 90 days. Detour: SR 323 to SR 38 to I-71 to SR 56 to SR 323. Completion date: December 6.
