Upcoming Work on the I-270 Project Updated 3:00 pm
Franklin County South Side
Interstate 270 – I-270 south will be reduced to one lane during the Wednesday night rush hour between Georgesville Road and US 62. Motorists should consider an alternate route or allow for extra time to get to their destination.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, I-270 south will be reduced to one lane so crews can make pavement repairs to the right lane between Georgesville Road and US Route 62. Both lanes of I-270 south in this area are expected to open by 5 a.m. Thursday.
As part of the operation, the ramps from east and westbound Georgesville Road to I-270 south will also be closed. The detour is Clime Road to Harrisburg Pike to I-270 south. By 5 a.m. Thursday, the ramps from Georgesville Road will be open.
Two weeks ago, ODOT posted signs, which are enforceable, forbidding trucks from travelling in the right lane of I-270 south because it was once a shoulder. In an effort to preserve the pavement, trucks can only use the left lane.
Overnight tonight, there will also be work on I-270 north between the Alkire Road Bridge and Broad Street. From 3 a.m. to 5 a.m., I-270 north will be reduced to one lane for guardrail repair. Two lanes of I-270 north between Alkire Road and Broad Street will be open in time for the Wednesday morning commute.
Here are other restrictions impacted by this project:
Demorest Road – One lane of two-way traffic is being maintained on Demorest Road under I-270 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge work. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Completion date: April 1.
Alkire Road – One lane of two-way traffic is being maintained on Alkire Road under I-270 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge work. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Completion date: April 1.
