West Side Update
To get the 70 eastbound bridge and ramps open by tomorrow morning, there will be lane restrictions and ramp closures overnight tonight. Here’s how traffic will be impacted hour by hour.
7 PM: I-70 east will be reduced to one lane through the crossover
8 PM: I -70 east will close through the crossover. Eastbound traffic will have to exit at I-270 south.
12 midnight: The new bridge on I-70 east will OPEN to traffic.
Also at midnight: The ramp from I-70 east to I-270 south will close.
6 AM: The following ramps will reopen:
· I-70 east to I-270 south (will return to one lane)
· I-70 east to I-270 north
· I-270 south to I-70 east
· Both lanes of I-70 west to I-270 south
After the bridge and most of the ramps reopen Tuesday morning, there’s still work to do to remove the temporary concrete barrier wall on I-70 west. Until that barrier wall is removed and striping is complete, the speed limit on I-70 west over I-270 will remain 45 mph. The speed limit on I-70 east will be 55 mph.
By Thursday morning’s rush hour, Roberts Road will be back in its original configuration, and the ramp from 270 north to 70 west will be open. The speed limit on I-70 west will return to 55 mph Thursday morning.
