Dempsey Road (Northeast Side) – Dempsey Road is closed between SR 3 and Arnett to allow ODOT to begin work on realigning the intersection of Dempsey Road and Emrick Road at SR 3. There are at least two detours for motorists. One is SR 3 to Huber Village Drive to South Hempstead Road to Dempsey Road or reverse. Another detour route is SR 3 to SR 161 to Sunbury Road to Dempsey Road or reverse. ODOT will also begin work to rebuild New Emrick Road. Completion date: August 31.
Interstate 70 (Downtown) –The ramp from SR 315 south to I-70 east will be closed for bridge work. The detour is SR 315 south to I-670 east to I-71 south to I-70 east. Drivers can also take SR 315 south to Greenlawn Avenue to SR 315 north to I-70 east. Completion date: September 2011.
Fourth Street (Downtown) – There will be a barrier wall down the middle of Fourth Street between Nationwide Boulevard and Goodale Boulevard which will divide traffic as ODOT works to replace the Fourth Street bridge deck. Two lanes of traffic in each direction plus a pedestrian walkway will be maintained. Access to I-670 east and west will also be maintained.
State Route 665 (South Side) – I-71/SR 665 (Grove City) – Beginning August 3, motorists will be using the newly constructed entrance ramp to access Interstate 71 north from both directions of State Route 665. The switch to the new ramp will occur between the morning and afternoon commutes.
If you are east of the interchange, there will now be two lanes as you approach the entrance ramp, one for thru traffic on SR 665 and a right turn lane for I-71 north traffic. With two lanes, traffic will move more efficiently through the interchange.
If you are west of the interchange, you will notice that the entrance ramp to I-71 north is a few hundred feet east from its previous location. Temporary pavement has been set up to help vehicles make the left turn from SR 665 onto the ramp as smooth as possible.
Wendy’s and Tim Horton’s traffic will no longer be able to exit directly onto SR 665. Instead of making a right turn out of the businesses, you will be re-routed to N. Meadows Drive/Seeds Road at the back of their facilities to SR 665.
Motorists travelling east on SR 665 will still be able to make a right turn into Wendy’s and Tim Horton’s. The new traffic pattern change only affects motorists leaving the businesses.
Hilliard-Rome Road (West Side) – Hilliard-Rome Road is reduced to one lane in each direction using temporary pavement between Westchester Woods Boulevard and Roberts Road for widening.
Left hand turns are allowed at the following locations:
Traveling both northbound and southbound on Hilliard-Rome Road at Westchester Woods Boulevard.
Traveling southbound on Hilliard-Rome Road at the service drive by Chick-Fil-A (opposite of Tanglewood Park Boulevard).
Traveling both northbound and southbound on Hilliard-Rome Road at Nike Drive.
Southbound traffic trying to access The Market at Hilliard should use the service drive opposite Tanglewood Park Boulevard or continue south to Westchester Woods Boulevard.
Northbound traffic trying to access Tanglewood Park Boulevard or the Tanglewood Plaza shopping area should use Westchester Woods Boulevard.
This traffic pattern will remain in effect until November.
Drivers are reminded to stay alert since heavy construction equipment will be moving in and out of the work zone.
