Bridge Beam Installation Closes Interstate70 Downtown
Overnight Only
COLUMBUS(NEW) Starting tonight, Interstate 70 will close overnight to allow construction crews to install bridge beams for the new 18th Street bridge over I-70.  
Wednesday and Thursday night, only I-70 west will be impacted. I-70 east will close Friday night.
The $27 million project is building a new bridge and ramp to Mound Street from Interstate 70 west and constructing a new 18th Street bridge, which is expected to be completed this Fall.
Here’s how traffic will be impacted.
Wednesday, April 16 – Thursday, April 17
At 11 p.m., I-70 west will close between I-270 on the East Side and I-71. Detour: I-270 north to I-670 west to I-71 south to I-70.
Also at 11 p.m., the following entrance ramps will be closed: James Rd, Livingston Ave, Alum Creek Dr and Miller Ave.
By 5 a.m. each morning, all ramps and lanes on I-70 west will be open.
Friday, April 18
At 11 p.m., I-70 east will close between I-71 and 18th Street. Detour: I-71 north to I-670 east to I-270 south to I-70 east.
Also at 11 p.m., the entrance ramp from 3rd Street to I-70 east will also be closed.
By 8 a.m. Saturday, all ramps and lanes on I-70 east will be open.
