Changes coming to West Side ramp
New configuration at I-270/70 interchange to ease congestion
Interstate 270/70 (West Side) - There’s relief coming for drivers who travel home from downtown to the Dublin/Hilliard area. Starting tonight, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will make changes to the ramp from I-70 west to I-270 north.
By Saturday afternoon, ramp traffic will no longer have to merge with the traffic on I-270 north that’s coming from I-70 east. Crews will remove barrier wall overnight so that I-270 north traffic coming from I-70 east can merge left instead of continuing straight (shown in graphic below).
This will allow traffic on the ramp from I-70 west to I-270 north to exit into its own lane, which will improve the traffic flow coming from downtown.
For this to happen, the left lane of I-270 north will be closed at I-70 beginning at 7 p.m. tonight. Two lanes will remain open, including the express lane. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to take an alternate route.
The ramp from I-70 west to I-270 north will close temporarily at 5 a.m. Saturday. The detour is I-70 west to Hilliard-Rome Road to I-70 east to I-270 north.
By noon on Saturday, all lanes and ramps will reopen in the new configuration.
