Progress Signals Another Milestone
THURSDAY, AUGUST 14 – (COLUMBUS) This afternoon, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) celebrated another milestone on the Mound Street Connector project – the 18th Street bridge is halfway complete.
In time for today's evening commute, drivers will notice that they’ve been shifted from the west side of the bridge to the newly-built east side. The one-way southbound only traffic pattern across the bridge will not change. Pedestrian access will also be maintained on the east side.
While there will be no new impacts to traffic, motorists will notice a smoother ride.
In addition to replacing the 18th Street bridge, this $28 million dollar project will construct a new bridge that will provide access from I-70 west into downtown at Mound Street.
The new bridges are expected to be open to traffic later this year.
