Progress on South Side Widening Project Continues
Changes for drivers on I-71 north start this weekend
COLUMBUS – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) project to widen Interstate 71 in Grove City is making progress. First southbound traffic was moved onto temporary pavement. Now crews are ready to move the northbound lanes.
Starting tomorrow morning, South Side drivers will notice a new traffic configuration on I-71 north between SR 665 and Stringtown Road. Two lanes will be maintained in each direction, but they will be shifted over to the outside so crews can work in the median.
This change will happen overnight tonight into Saturday morning. Here’s how drivers will be impacted.
At 8 p.m. tonight, I-71 north will be reduced to one lane. Both northbound lanes are expected to reopen by 9 a.m. tomorrow. Any delays in opening both lanes will be communicated via ODOT social media (please see below).
The two-year, $37 million project is expected to be complete Summer 2017.
