Work to Impact US 33 Traffic on Southeast Side
– (NEW) Drivers on the southeast side, take notice. Construction
work on several bridges means only one travel lane-- for about four miles-- all
weekend long. Because the work involves the entire bridge deck, US 33 has to be
reduced to one lane to allow crews to repair the roadway a half at a time and
still maintain traffic.
This is the second and final weekend of these
restrictions on US 33. Weather permitting, the work this weekend begins Friday,
October 14. Here’s how traffic between
Columbus, Lancaster and Athens, Ohio will be impacted.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14 – MONDAY, OCTOBER 17
- Westbound US Route 33
reduced to one lane between Gender Rd. and Hamilton Rd.
- Ramp from southbound
Gender Road to US 33 west will close. The detour is Gender Road to US 33 east
to Hill/Diley to US 33 west.
- Both directions of US
Route 33 reduced to one lane between Gender Rd. and Hamilton Rd.
- Ramp from northbound
Hamilton Road to US 33 east will close. The detour is Hamilton Road to US 33
west to I-270 south to US 33 east.
A.M. MONDAY: All
lanes and ramps open.
The exit ramps to Gender Road and Hamilton Road will not be impacted; however,
drivers should expect long delays and consider using alternate routes.
