West Side Project Update at I-270 and I-70
Weather permitting, work complete by Friday AM
Interstate 70 Widening Project - (NEW) Crews working on the ‘cross over’ for eastbound Interstate 70 traffic between Hilliard Rome Road and Wilson Road simply ran out of time before all work was complete. East bound traffic is crossed over, but a small section of striping still needs to be completed on the travel lanes heading east from I-270 and Wilson Road. Weather permitting, that work is expected to be complete tonight during the overnight hours.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down and use caution as they travel through the zone today. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused especially on your morning commute into Columbus.
In order for the striping work to happen tonight, here’s how traffic will be impacted:
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22
Interstate 270 (West Side) – (NEW) The ramp from I-270 north to I-70 east will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping. The detour is I-270 north to Roberts Road to I-270 south to I-70 east. Also at 7 p.m., the ramp from I-270 south to I-70 east will be reduced to one lane. All lanes and ramps will reopen by 5 a.m.
Below is a graphic of the new traffic pattern that will be in place for several months on the west side widening project.
