UPDATE: The below work has been cancelled due to weather. It's been rescheduled for next weekend (May 5-8), weather permitting.
West Side Widening Project Begins This Weekend
Lanes and ramps closed on I-270 at night
Interstate 270 (West Side) – (NEW) In order to widen Interstate 270 from three lanes to
four, crews need to get traffic into its new, temporary configuration which
also includes placement of several digital speed limit signs.
ODOT is investing close to $60 million to add a travel lane over an
eight-mile stretch of Interstate 270
between US 33 in Dublin and Trabue Road. Areas of I-270 with an original speed limit of
65 mph will have a small reduction in speed even though workers are not
present. That’s because the travel conditions include narrower travel lanes and
portable concrete barrier.
When the lights are flashing on the digital
speed limit signs, workers are present and the speed limit will be further
reduced. Drivers will need to pay
attention to the signs and obey the reduced speed when signs are flashing.
If you’re weekend plans
include Interstate 270 on the west side, you will be impacted.
