Wilson Road to Close at Roberts Road for Intersection Improvements
Work begins next Friday to rebuild the Wilson/Roberts Road intersection
COLUMBUS – (NEW) Beginning Friday July 12, a section of Wilson Road will close at the Roberts Road intersection. Wilson Road will close overnight Friday for 15 days to reconstruct the intersection.
The whole intersection will not be closed, just the side to the south of Roberts Road by Thortons. Motorists will still be able to access businesses on Wilson Road to the north of Roberts Road.
The detour for the section of Wilson Road that will be closed is Westbelt Drive to Trabue Road to Wilson Road or reverse. The closure of Wilson Road has to occur before the Roberts Road bridge over I-270 can close.
At 8 p.m. Friday July 12, the ramp from Roberts Road to I-270 south will also close, but just for the weekend. Crews need to realign the ramp.
The detour for the ramp closure is Roberts Road to I-270 north to Cemetery Road to I-270 south. The ramp will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, July 15.
These closures are part of the $8.7 million ODOT project to improve safety at I-270 and Roberts Road. The interchange averages just over a hundred crashes a year.
ODOT is building a diverging diamond interchange at I-270 and Roberts Road, which will move more vehicles through the interchange safely.
