ODOT: New and Improved Intersection Set to Open in Northern Franklin County
Hard Road Project Nearly Complete
Columbus (Friday, June 4, 2010) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) says workers are completing final tasks in preparation for the opening of the new and improved access at State Route 315 and Hard Road on the north side of Columbus.
By Monday June 14, all travel lanes on Hard Road- two lanes in each direction plus a center turn lane- will be open. The new intersection will also allow northbound SR 315 drivers to make a left turn directly onto Hard Road, and motorists travelling east on Hard Road will now be able turn directly onto SR 315 south.
As part of the ODOT project, there are new traffic signals at the intersection of Hard Road and SR 315 which may take a period of adjustment for drivers.
To prepare for the opening, on Friday, June 11 at 8 p.m. Hard Road will close between Bluffview Drive and SR 315. By 5 a.m. Monday, all five lanes on Hard Road will be open.
Olentangy River Road will also close on Friday night between Hard Road and SR 315. This section of Olentangy River Road will remain closed for six weeks to allow crews to make improvements.
ODOT distributed a flyer recently to residents and businesses which detailed the upcoming traffic pattern changes. ODOT also informed emergency responders, city and township services.
To access Hard Road from I-270 west, proceed to Sawmill Road and travel north to Hard Road. For southbound SR 315 motorists, continue south on SR 315 to SR 161 east to SR 315 north to Hard Road to the new intersection.
Work on the $8 million ODOT/City of Columbus Hard Road project began in 2008 and is on schedule to be complete this fall.
