
ODOT: Weekend Work to Impact Northwest Columbus
"Slow for the Cone Zone" near Tuttle Crossing Mall
Columbus (Thursday, August 5, 2010) – Crews working for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will complete the safety and road surface improvements to the I-270 bridges over Hayden Run Road beginning this Friday. Traffic on I-270 will be impacted and visitors to the Dublin Irish Festival, scheduled for this weekend, should remain alert as they travel through the work zone.
At 9 p.m. Friday August 6, traffic on I-270 will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between Cemetery Road and Tuttle Crossing Boulevard and Hayden Run Road under the bridge will close. At 10 p.m. the ramp from Tuttle Crossing Boulevard to I-270 south and the ramp from Cemetery Road to I-270 north in Hilliard will close. Hayden Run Road is expected to open Saturday afternoon.
The detour for the Tuttle Crossing ramp closure at Tuttle Crossing is Tuttle Crossing Boulevard east to Frantz Road south to Dublin Road south, to Davidson Road west to Trueman Boulevard south to Cemetery Road west to I-270 south or Tuttle Crossing Boulevard west to Britton Parkway south to Cemetery Road east to I-270 south. The detour for the Cemetery Road ramp is Cemetery Road east to Trueman Boulevard north to Davidson Road east to Dublin Road to Franz Road north to Tuttle Crossing Boulevard west to I-270 north.
The detour for Hayden Run Road is Britton Drive to Davidson Road to Dublin Road and reverse.
ODOT will monitor traffic on the detour routes and work with the City of Columbus to adjust the timings on traffic signals as needed throughout the weekend. This will ensure that traffic continues to flow in a safe and efficient manner through the weekend.
All lanes and ramps along will be open by Monday morning at 5 a.m. completing work on the $1.4 million project.
I-270 Pavement Repairs/Resurfacing
Crews working for ODOT will also complete pavement repairs on I-270 between US 33 and SR 315 this weekend. Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, August 6, I-270 east will be reduced to two lanes between Sawmill Road and SR 315. At midnight, I-270 east will be reduced to one lane between Sawmill Road and SR 315 and the ramp from Sawmill Road to I-270 east will close. All lanes of I-270 will reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday morning.
Work on the I-270 pavement repairs will not resume until Sunday night, August 8, at 8 p.m. when I-270 east will be reduced to two lanes between Post Road and Sawmill Road at 8 p.m. and one lane at midnight. The ramp from US 33 west to I-270 east will also close at midnight. All lanes and ramps on I-270 will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday to accommodate the morning commute.
