All Lanes on Hilliard Rome Road Open Early
ODOT project a month ahead of schedule
Columbus (Wednesday, August 22, 2012) – Weather is to blame again. This time for the early completion of the safety improvement project on Hilliard Rome Road in Franklin County.
All travel lanes opened on Monday. The $9 million dollar project, which widened Hilliard Rome Road from two lanes to five between Roberts Road and Westchester Woods Boulevard, began last March.
The mild weather and very few rain days are credited with the early opening. The lack of rain meant the contractor, Complete General Construction, was able to start paving a month earlier.
Even though all travel lanes are open, there is still work to complete on the project. Old traffic signals need to be removed, new signals uncovered and coordinated, landscaping, sidewalk construction and street lighting.
While this work most likely will not impact travel, motorists are encouraged to use caution since this is still a construction work zone.
