Widening Project to Begin a Year Early
I-270 between Hilliard and Dublin
(September 8, 2016) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT)
is moving up construction to widen eight miles of Interstate 270 from three
lanes to four between Trabue Road and US 33 on the Northwest Side of Franklin
is available now, which is why the project is happening sooner rather than
later. Construction was originally set to begin in July 2018, but will now
start this coming Spring.
270/33 interchange reconstruction project in Dublin will also be under
construction in 2017; however, all traffic movements including lanes, ramps and
bridges are expected to be open by the end of 2016. The work in 2017 at the
Dublin interchange will be landscaping, final paving and striping. Since both
are ODOT projects, there will be coordination on how traffic will be
interstate will be widened within the existing median, which means less impact
to traffic during construction. Prior to any lane restrictions or ramp
closures, notification will be provided.
on this stretch of I-270 between Hilliard and Dublin is expected to increase by
30,000 vehicles per day over the next 20 years. The addition of a fourth lane
in each direction will increase capacity, which will not only reduce congestion
during peak travel times, but also improve traffic flow in the area.
$66.5 million project is expected to be complete in Fall 2018.
