X’s and O’s and Plenty of Orange Barrels This Weekend
Northeast Side Road Work to Impact Airport, High School Football and Shopping
Columbus (Friday, September 10, 2010) – Have a game plan if your weekend travels include Port Columbus International Airport, football, and shopping. ODOT will begin pavement improvements on Interstate 270 between I-670 and State Route 161 tomorrow night.
Motorists should allow extra time to travel through the area because there will be lane restrictions and ramp closures.
Beginning Friday night at 10 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m., both directions of I-270 between I-670 and SR 161 will be reduced to one lane in the work zone. Motorists will have the option of using the Easton lanes to travel through the area and avoid the work zone all together.
One hour earlier at 9 p.m., the ramp from I-670 east to I-270 north will close along with the US 62 west ramp to I-270 north. Drivers will also not be able to access US 62 east towards Gahanna from I-670 east. All motorists will be detoured to I-270 south to Broad Street.
Motorists will be able to access Morse Road and Easton from both directions of I-270 all weekend.
ODOT is already using message boards along I-270 and the ramps to notify drivers of the upcoming lane restrictions and ramp closures.
