I-270 and US 33 Interchange Improvement

Getting Ready for June 7 at 10 PM
9 days and counting, that’s when a section of US 33 will close four four months as part of the reconstruction of the Interstate 270/US 33 interchange. During the four months, old bridges will be demolished and new ones constructed. Here is how traffic will be impacted:
SUNDAY, JUNE 7 – US ROUTE 33(NEW)
  • 10 PM: US 33 will close just east of the interchange. You will not be able to use US 33 to get over I-270 or travel from the east to the west and vice versa. Your detours for US 33 east bound will be I-270 south to Tuttle to I-270 north to US 33 east. For US 33 westbound, I-270 north to Sawmill Rd. to I-270 south to US 33 west. This section of US 33 will be closed until October 19.
  • 10 PM: There are also several ramps that will close. Some just for the night for striping. Two ramps will remain closed until October, but four ramps will remain open. Please note the ramp, duration and detour below.
  • RAMPS CLOSED June 7  at 10 PM until Monday June 8 at 5 AM
a.   I-270 north to US 33 west. Detour is Sawmill Rd. to I-270 south to US 33 west.
b.   US 33 east to I-270 north. Detour is I-270 south to Tuttle to I-270 north.
c.   US 33 west to I-270 south. Detour is I-270 north to Sawmill Rd. to I-270 south.
d.   I-270 south to US 33 east. Detour is I-270 south to Tuttle to I-270 north to US 33 east.
·  RAMPS CLOSED FOR FOUR MONTHS
a.   US 33 west to I-270 south. Detour is I-270 north to Sawmill Rd. to I-270 south.
b.   I-270 south to US 33 east. Detour is I-270 south to Tuttle to I-270 north to US 33 east.
·  RAMPS THAT WILL REMAIN OPEN
a.   US 33 west to I-270 north
b.   I-270 north to US 33 east
c.   I-270 south to US 33 west
d.   US 33 east to I-270 south
