Highway Management

Scott Kasler - Highway Management Administrator

The Highway Management Administrative area is comprised of three major departments which comprises about 70% of the District's work force. They include Construction/Materials Management, Roadway Services and District Seven's nine counties.

The responsibilities include:

  • Providing Construction Inspection and Testing Activities
  • Roadway Maintenance and Repairs
  • Snow and Ice Control
  • Garage Operations
  • Vehicle Fleet Management

Other key areas of operations are:

  • Radio Maintenance Repairs
  • Traffic Signing
  • Detours
  • Signal and Highway Lighting Maintenance
  • Pavement Markings
  • Bridge Maintenance
  • Heavy Equipment Operation
 

 Counties

 
Each of District Seven's nine counties have the responsibilities for maintenance and construction activities on all interstate, united state routes, and state routes located outside of municipal corporation limits. these major activities include snow and ice control, construction inspection, mowing, pavement repairs, sign maintenance, shoulder maintenance, litter control, uardrail repairs, drainage improvements, roadway preventive maintenance and bridge maintenance.
 

 Construction

 
The construction department is responsible for quality assurance of outside contractor work and all matters pertaining to highway work performed by private firms under contract to ODOT.

 Roadway Services

 
This Department includes traffic, Garage, Special Projects and Radio. The Traffic department provides the traveling public with a safe and reliable transportation system by maintaining traffic signals, highway lighting, pavement markings and signs as well as erecting detours when necessary. the district grage is responsible for maintaining and servicing the district seven fleet of cars, pickups, dump trucks and other maintenance related equipment. the special projects Division is responsible for performing and distributing the larger, more specialized pieces of equipment such as track hoes, dozers, sweepers, etc. that are not practical to have in each of the county locations. The radio section maintains and repairs our inventory of two way radio communications in our trucks and base stations located across the district. All of the sections listed above support the snow and ice control operations of each of the county garages.
