 Progress and Plan Revisions

Construction on Interstate 75 through downtown Dayton began in October 2007.  The work of Phase 1A is nearly 30 percent complete.  While much progress has taken place, the spring flooding and unexpected river conditions have set the final completion back to summer of 2012.  There is an acceleration plan to re-gain much of that lost time.  That plan is to close parts of the I-75/SR 4 interchange for a limited time and allow the contractor to accelerate construction in that area.

 Ramp Information

The following movements will not be accessible during these timeframes:

§    SR 4 Southbound to I-75 Southbound – September 7, 2008 to late summer 2009

§    Access to Webster St. from I-75 Southbound - September 7, 2008 to late summer 2009

§    I-75 Southbound to SR 4 Northbound – early spring 2009 to late summer 2009

The following ramps will remain open:

§    SR 4 Southbound to I-75 Northbound

§    I-75 Northbound to SR 4 Northbound

 Detours and Alternate Routes

Stanley Avenue between I-75 and SR 4 will serve as the local detour route.  Access to Webster Street can also be accomplished from Stanley Avenue.  See map on back.

Drivers may also want to consider alternate routes during this time, such as I-675 to US 35 to I-75, or I-70 to I-75.

 Benefits

The project can be completed in 2011, close to the original schedule.  The work won’t have to extend through an additional winter.

Improved traffic flow on I-75 Southbound by eliminating the I-75 SB to SR 4 NB weaving movement.   This lane will be in its final alignment by late summer 2009.

SR 4 to I-75 SB movement will be in its new location by early summer 2009.   This will also provide direct access from SR 4 to North Main Street.

Savings of $2,000,000 in potential delay costs.
