HAMILTON COUNTY (Thursday, April 29, 2010) - Lane closures for next week to accommodate work to reconstruct the Monmouth Street overpass at Interstate 75 are as follows:
Monday, May 3: Right lane southbound I-75, closed at 7 p.m., followed by closure of right two lanes at
10 p.m.
Left lane northbound I-75, closed at 8 p.m.
Full road closures for up to 30 minutes at a time on southbound I-75 beginning at
midnight for structural steel demolition.
All lanes reopened by 5 a.m.
Tuesday, May 4: Right lane northbound I-75 and Bates ramp, closed at 8 p.m., followed by closure of
right two lanes at 10 p.m.
Left lane southbound I-75, closed at 9 p.m.
Full road closures for up to 30 minutes at a time on northbound I-75, beginning at
midnight for structural steel demolition.
All lanes reopened by 5 a.m.
Wednesday, May 5: Single lane closures on southbound I-75 beginning at 7 p.m., followed by double lane
closures at 10 p.m. to implement traffic switch to outside lanes of southbound I-75;
motorists are advised that closures could result in delays and stopped traffic.
All lanes reopened by 5 a.m.
Thursday, May 6 Single lane closures on southbound I-75 beginning at 7 p.m., followed by double lane closures at 10 p.m. to implement a traffic switch to the outside lanes of southbound I-75; motorists are advised that closures could result in delays and stopped traffic; all lanes are to reopen by 6 a.m.
Friday, May 7 Left lane of southbound I-75, from 7 p.m. to midnight
Sunday, May 9 Single lane closure on northbound I-75 beginning at 7 p.m., followed by double lane closures at 10 p.m. to implement traffic switch to outside lanes of northbound I-75; all lanes are to reopen by 6 a.m.
Monday, May 10 Left lane of northbound I-75 closed from 7 p.m. to midnight.
This project is the start of work for the $664 million Interstate 75 Mill Creek Expressway Project, which will improve traffic flow and enhance safety of the I-75 corridor from the Western Hills Viaduct to north of the Paddock Road interchange in Hamilton County. Over the course of 10 years, construction will rehabilitate eight miles of existing lanes and construct an additional lane in each direction.
The Monmouth Street work will remove and reconstruct the overpass, and reconstruct and convert Monmouth to a local through street between Central Parkway and Colerain Avenue. In addition, the Bates Avenue Bridge and the pedestrian bridge between Colerain Avenue and Central Parkway will be removed to clear overhead obstruction to future construction on I-75. Work on the new overpass is to be completed by Sept. 30, 2010, with completion of the entire phase scheduled for Aug. 31, 2011. The Great Lakes Construction Company was awarded the $7.192 million contract.
