Comments Sought for Mt. Healthy Signal Project
Lebanon (Wednesday, September 18, 2019) – As part of the Ohio
Department of Transportation – District 8’s Capital Programs Department, the
district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input for a signal replacement project in the city of Mt. Healthy.
The proposed project, PID: 107296, is to upgrade the existing signal
system at 16 signalized intersections on U.S. 127 and Compton Road in Mt.
Healthy. The project will consist of modernizing signals or installing
push-button actuated crosswalks with flashing lights, or Rectangular Rapid-Flashing
Beacons (RRFB). The RRFB is a device placed on both sides of a crosswalk and
used in combination with pedestrian warning signs to provide a
high-visibility, strobe-like warning to drivers when pedestrians use a
crosswalk.
Currently, construction is anticipated to begin in July
2020. Traffic, as well as access to properties, will be maintained throughout
the project; however, it may require the use of flaggers or temporary lane closures
at various times.
