Hamilton Mason Road to Close for 'Superstreet' Construction

Hamilton-Mason Road To Closure for ‘Superstreet’ Construction

Closure at State Route 4 Bypass to Begin June 7

Butler County (Monday, May 24, 2010) Work to construct a superstreet intersection at the State Route 4 Bypass and Hamilton-Mason Road will require that Hamilton-Mason Road be closed from just east of Gateway Avenue to the SR 4 Bypass from Monday, June 7 until mid-November. The following detours will be put in place:

Eastbound Hamilton-Mason Road traffic will be detoured to Hamilton Enterprise Park Drive to Tylersville Road to SR 4 Bypass. Traffic can head north on SR 4 Bypass to access Hamilton-Mason Road east of State Route 4 Bypass.

Westbound Hamilton-Mason Road traffic will be detoured south on SR 4 Bypass to Tylersville Road to Hamilton Enterprise Park Drive to Hamilton Mason Road.

The first of this type of intersection to be constructed in Ohio, the superstreet is designed to improve safety and travel time through the SR 4 Bypass corridor, reducing delays by up to 90 percent compared to a conventional intersection. It also features fewer conflict points than a conventional intersection, reducing the number of crashes that could occur.

A simulation of how a superstreet intersection works can be viewed at: http://www.dot.state.oh.us/districts/d08/Pages/default.aspx.
