Interstate 71 Repaving Projects Update

Hamilton County (Friday, Sept. 7, 2018) - The Interstate 71 repaving projects require the following restrictions:
  • Various nightly lane closures on I-71 southbound between Ridge Rd. and SR 126/Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. beginning Sunday, Sept. 9 and ending 6 a.m. Saturday morning, Sept. 15. Motorists will be required to use the contraflow lane on Monday, Sept. 10 beginning at 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11. 
  • Various nightly lane closures on I-71 northbound and southbound from Reading Rd. to the Lytle Tunnel between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. beginning Monday, Sept. 10 through Saturday morning, Sept. 15. The northbound lane restrictions will begin two hours after the conclusion of the Bengals game on Thursday, Sept. 13. Also, the northbound restrictions will be in place until 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15.
  • Right lane closure on I-71 northbound between MLK Jr. Dr. and Dana Ave. beginning at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11 through 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31. The MLK Dr. to I-71 northbound on ramp will merge with through traffic at the bottom of the ramp. The Dana Ave. exit will remain open.
  • Various lane closures on Reading Rd. between Liberty and McMillan sts. beginning 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13 until 6 a.m. Friday morning, Sept. 14. Restrictions will cease for two hours after the Bengals game.
  • I-71 southbound to Gilbert/Reading Rd. ramp closed starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 until 5 a.m. Friday morning, Sept. 14.
  • Continued closure of the ramp from Reading Rd. to north I-71 through 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21. The detour uses Reading Rd. to MLK Jr. Dr. to north I-71.
  • Close the ramps from east SR 562 to north I-71 and south I-71 to west SR 562 nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 through Saturday, Sept. 8. Only one ramp will be closed at a time.
  • Close the ramps from Reading Rd. to south I-471, and south I-71 to south I-471 nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 4 through Saturday, Sept. 8. Only one ramp will be closed at a time.
  • Various lane closures on north I-71 between the Lytle Tunnel and Reading Road  nightly from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 through Saturday, Sept. 8.
  • Single lane closures on Dorchester Ave./Eden Park Dr. between Highland and Gilbert aves. nightly from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 through Saturday, Sept. 8.
  • Single lane closures on Reading Rd. between Liberty and McMillan sts. nightly from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 through Saturday, Sept. 8.
  • The left lane of south I-71 from SR 126 to Ridge Rd. is in a contraflow lane, using the left lane of north I-71. Traffic will remain in this pattern until May, 2019.
  • Continued reduced bridge clearance for the ramps east SR 562 to Ridge Road and north I-71, and from north I-71 to west SR 562, through Saturday, Sept. 15.
Arrow boards and/or signs will alert motorists of the upcoming restrictions. All work is contingent upon weather. 
To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone. Move over or slow down.
