Interstate 71/MLK Project Update
 
Hamilton County (Tuesday, June 7, 2016) – The following restrictions will be in place within the I-71/Martin Luther King Drive work zone this week for continued work on the creation of a new, full movement interchange.
 
Tuesday, June 7 through Friday, June 10: single lane closure on eastbound Martin Luther King Boulevard between Reading and Gilbert daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
 
Thursday, June 9: Various lane closures on southbound I-71 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Short-term road closures between midnight and 5 a.m., with traffic maintained by law enforcement officers.
 
Friday, June 10: Various lane closures on northbound I-71 from midnight to 6 a.m. with short-term road closures from midnight to 5 a.m., with traffic maintained by law enforcement officers. Also, various lane closures in both directions of Reading Road between Linton Street and Hickman Avenue from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
 
Gilbert Avenue is now open to two lanes in each direction. Beginning Monday, June 13, Reading Road will be restricted to one lane in each direction for 90 days.
 
Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work zone and lane restrictions.
 
To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
