Interstate 71/MLK project update
 
Hamilton County (Friday, April 29, 2016) - As part of the work to create a new, full movement interchange at Interstate 71 and Martin Luther King Drive, the following restrictions will be in place on local streets and on I-71 from Victory Parkway to McMillan Street next week:
 
Monday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 3 - Single lane closure on southbound I-71 beginning at 7 p.m., followed by double lane closures at 9 p.m., with all lanes reopen to traffic by 6 a.m. the following day. Short-term full closures on north or southbound I-71 from midnight to 5 a.m. Also, close eastbound Martin Luther King from Gilbert Avenue to Reading Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. In addition, single lane closure on southbound Reading Road between Hickman Avenue and Martin Luther King from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
 
Wednesday, May 4 – Single lane closure on north and southbound I-71 beginning at 7 p.m., followed by double lane closures on north and southbound I-71 at 9 p.m., with all lanes reopen to traffic by 6 a.m. the following day. Short-term full closures on north or southbound I-71 from midnight to 5 a.m. Also, close eastbound Martin Luther King from Gilbert Avenue to Reading Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. In addition, single lane closure on southbound Reading Road between Hickman Avenue and Martin Luther King from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
 
Thursday, May 5 - Single lane closure on southbound I-71 beginning at 7 p.m., followed by double lane closures at 9 p.m., with all lanes reopen to traffic by 6 a.m. the following day. Short-term full closures on north or southbound I-71 from midnight to 5 a.m. Also, close eastbound Martin Luther King from Gilbert Avenue to Reading Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. In addition, single lane closure on southbound Reading Road between Hickman Avenue and Martin Luther King from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
 
Friday, May 6 – Single lane closure on southbound I-71 beginning at 7 p.m., followed by double lane closures at 9 p.m. Also, double lane closures on northbound I-71 at approximately midnight (or two hours after the Red’s game ends), with all lanes reopen to traffic by 6 a.m. the following day. Short-term full closures on north or southbound I-71 between midnight and 5 a.m. In addition, close eastbound Martin Luther Drive from Gilbert Avenue to Reading Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Single lane closure on southbound Reading Road between Hickman Avenue and Martin Luther King from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
 
Traffic will be maintained with local law enforcement officers.
 
Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work zone, lane and short-term full closures.
 
To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
